As the health kick in our nation continues, smokers seem to be taking more and more of a hit. There are continually less and less public places in which smoking is allowed. On top of that, states are beginning to increase taxes on cigarettes in an effort to get people to quit smoking by simply making it to expensive to continue. Smokers also seem to be suffering from governments inadequacies to manage their budgets leading them to impose greater taxes on cigarettes to help balance their budgets.
An article in the USA Today states the following about the taxes on cigarettes. "Fourteen states have raised tobacco taxes in the past two years, according to the Tobacco Merchants Association, an industry group. With the economy in a slide, legislation asking for increases is pending in 19 other states. They include a proposed 50-cent increase in South Carolina, where the current 7-cent tax is the nation's lowest."
New York state just raised its taxes on cigarettes from $1.25 to $2.75 per pack. If you happen to also living in New York City, they charge an additional $1.50 per pack, for a grand total of almost $9 per pack in the city. That is enough to make anyone think twice about their addiction to smoking and look for ways to quit.
However, with the great technology we have today, a new product has been created which can allow you to continue to smoke, and at much cheaper prices than you are currently paying for tobacco cigarettes, regardless of whether you are paying $2 per pack or $9 per pack. This product is called the Electronic Cigarette. Its use is identical to that of smoking a normal tobacco cigarette, but this product contains no tobacco and is a much healthier alternative to smoking tobacco cigarettes. There are also countless other benefits to the electronic cigarette. To learn more about this wonderful product, click here.
